The VERY LAST thing I expected to see on a BUSY pier in san francisco.. A statue of Gandhi!! Plus more sites of the water from that location.. I slept on a closed off pier at night sometimes, hidden in the dark..
Spend MUCH of my time in downtown san francisco at the waterfront back then(not the beach, although I finally went there later on).. NOT many homeless were as creative as I finding unique ways to sleep HIDDEN in unlikely places...
So the dunes were "off limits" , yet thats how I was able to sleep without interruption! HAHA!! I remember waking up after 20 hours of deep wonderful sleep, with the sounds of gulls and the ocean.. And the bottom pic is a famous type of san francisco streetcar, which I SNUCK on via the back door, which got me to the beach!!
I would often sleep in the WEEDS, using a camouflage bivy and sleeping bag, to AVOID beach cops at night!! They are VERY prejudiced again poor homeless people, and REFUSE to let the poor sleep on the beaches, its BULLSHIT!!! ONLY the RICH get to sleep on beaches apparently, cause they buy beachfront property!
Heres the VIEW from the weeds where I would actually lay down below line of sight of cops on beachbuggies..
